STATUS
Sedentary, topped up by a few foreign birds. 

ABUNDANCE
Common.

HABITAT
This is the only duck that habitually turns up on local rivers and streams, as well as reservoirs, ponds and pools of all types.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Seen all year. Outside the breeding season they flock together on any sizeable wetlands. 

DISTRIBUTION
Evenly distributed throughout the whole cordillera.

COMMENTS
The only record of this specie’s movements involves a female ringed in Doñana in June 1988 and then shot by hunters in September of the following year in Villanueva de la Reina.
