SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
The first arrive as early as late August, leaving from February to March.
DISTRIBUTION
Very rare in Huelva with a single record on River Chanza (Aroche). In Seville regularly seen on passage on open water of Guadalcanal; winters on Melonares, José Torán and other reservoirs. In Córdoba likeliest to be seen on Arenoso Reservoir and River Guadalquivir, and in Sierra Morena de Jaén on Marmolejo Reservoir, with records from other spots such as Encinarejo reservoir and flooded gravel pits around Bailén.
COMMENTS
A drake was seen in June 2010 at Azud del Esparragal; in all likelihood it was a bird wounded in the previous hunting season and therefore unable to migrate to its breeding grounds. |
