STATUS
Migrant and perhaps breeder as well.

ABUNDANCE
Very rare.

HABITAT
Reedmace beds and Phragmites reedbeds on the banks of wetlands.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Easiest to detect in March and April when the males are reeling.

DISTRIBUTION
Recorded on suitable stretches of the River Guadalquivir in Córdoba and Jaén. Breeding has been claimed for the latter province (Marmolejo Reservoir, Rincón del Jándula), though specific surveys in the last two years have failed to confirm this.
