STATUS
Migrant, with some breeding birds.
 

ABUNDANCE
Rare.

HABITAT
Both on passage and in summer seen only in wetlands with well-developed vegetation (Phragmites reedbeds and reedmace beds), sometimes combined with riparian copses.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Seen from April (sometimes from late March) to September. 

DISTRIBUTION
There are breeding records from the reservoirs of the River Guadalquivir (Marmolejo, El Salto). Also breeds in the highest reaches of the Guadiato in Sierra Morena Cordobesa. Has occasionally bred in other spots, such as the reservoirs of Cavá (Encinasola), Minas de Cala and Zocueca.
