ABUNDANCE
Uncommon as breeder and abundant as winter visitor and on passage.

HABITAT
In winter very fond of olive groves, Wild Olive copses and patches of Mediterranean shrubs rich in fruit (Myrtle, Laurestina, Mastic, Ivy, etc), also turning up in orchards, hedgerows and riparian thickets. Breeds along rivers and streams and moist valleys of Mediterranean scrub and some broadleaved copses (Pyrenean-Oak woods, Sweet-Chestnut woods, shady slopes, etc).

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Some birds breed here and are probably sedentary but most of them arrive in September and leave by late March.
