STATUS
Sedentary, the resident population perhaps topped up by wintering birds. 

ABUNDANCE
Abundant.

HABITAT
Occupies a great variety of habitats providing there are holes to nest in and open ground to feed in. Breeds in towns and villages, dehesas, woodland of all type except closed canopy, farmsteads and farmhouses, rocks and crags, old mines, bridges and other constructions, etc. In winter it takes to open ground rich in food like cropland, olive groves and pastureland with livestock.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Seen all year, forming huge flocks and spectacular roosts in winter. 

DISTRIBUTION
Abundant throughout Sierra Morena.
