STATUS
Winter visitor.

ABUNDANCE
Rare, numbers fluctuating from year to year. Although it is not reported every year, it probably does winter fairly regularly in the territory.

HABITAT
Rather than picking out a particular habitat, this species tends to settle in areas rich in winter food at any particular time. There have been sightings in dehesas, olive groves, Sweet-Chestnut woods, sown fields and riparian woods.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Most sightings are made in December, January and/or February.

DISTRIBUTION
Recorded from all four provinces, though with slightly more regularity in Huelva.

COMMENTS
During invasion years wintering birds might be found in some numbers in mixed flocks of Chaffinches and other birds.
