STATUS
Winter visitor and migrant. 

ABUNDANCE
Scarce.

HABITAT
Mainly takes to riparian woodland and copses in shady areas but also turns up in other areas like Gum Rockrose scrub, orchards and bramble patches according to the availability of food in each site. There have also been some sightings in pinewoods, Cork-Oak woods and Portuguese-Oak woods.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Most birds are with us from November to March, a few arriving beforehand or leaving later. 

DISTRIBUTION
Appears in the four provinces but seems to be more habitual in Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche and in part of the province of Seville.

COMMENTS
In Sierra Morena feeds mainly on young shoots of trees and bushes but also on the seeds of Cistus species and dry blackberries.
