The area known as Las Colonias or El Gale贸n has a long and distinguished farming pedigree. Here once grew many of the vineyards that gave such prosperity to towns and villages of the Sierra. Nowadays we find a patchwork farming landscape frequented by birds like Booted Eagle, Black Kite, Crested Lark, Thekla Lark, Dartford Warbler, Bee-eater, Southern Grey Shrike and Red-Legged Partridge, topped up by drop-in migrants. From our vantage point we might also see Iberian Hare and the eye-catching wasp spider Argiope lobata. More information in the book Birding and Nature Trails in Sierra Morena Sevillana. |
