Publications

We have now published four books making up the collection Birding and Nature Trails in Sierra Morena. Each one of them gives not only a detailed description of the trails of that area but also an introduction to the main features of each district, investigating its historical-architectural heritage, ethnography, protected sites and existing habitat, flora, cuisine and folklore. A detailed account is also given of the fauna, especially the birds but without overlooking mammals, amphibians and reptiles, autochthonous fish species and outstanding invertebrates. The introduction ends with an eyecatching fold-out map of the district showing the position and type of each trail; on the back of this map is a table showing all bird species recorded up to the publication date of the book, indicating when and on which trails they can be seen. There are also other tables showing the other animals and plants of interest that might be seen on the various trails. Each book ends with a Handy Information section listing the accommodation options,聽 active-tourism firms, restaurants, public authorities and other organisations of interest based in the local area. This last section also lists the companies belonging to the Red MITO (MITO Network: more information聽here).
