STATUS
Summer visitor (1-5 pairs) and migrant.

ABUNDANCE
Very scarce on passage, rare as breeder.

HABITAT
Seems to prefer a patchwork habitat with woods, Mediterranean scrub and clearings or the edges of pinewoods. On passage might be seen in flight anywhere.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Comes back late, from late April but most in May. Leaves in September-October. It is one of the latest breeders, the fledglings not flying until August.

DISTRIBUTION
Known to breed in Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche, where there is one certain pair and two possibles. There is also a probable territory in Seville.

COMMENTS
Little is known about this species. It takes over other nests to breed, usually of crow species.
