STATUS
Sedentary, winter visitor and migrant. 

ABUNDANCE
Rare as breeder, scarce on passage and in winter.

HABITAT
Shores of reservoirs, farm ponds, wide rivers, irrigation pools and mining lagoons.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Variable. Seen all year in some spots, in others on passage; spends all winter in some spots. 

DISTRIBUTION
Turns up in all provinces, always in low numbers. The main breeding areas are farm ponds in the north of Seville and gravel pits in Jaén. On passage can be seen on reservoirs and ponds throughout the region.
