STATUS
Winter visitor. 

ABUNDANCE
Uncommon (though might be locally abundant). Numbers vary greatly from year to year.

HABITAT
Cropland, grassland, meadows and open dehesas.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Its arrival dates vary according to the particular weather patterns of each winter, though the bookend dates are usually November and March. 

DISTRIBUTION
Distributed, albeit in low numbers, throughout all four provinces. The best spot is Llanos de Guaditoca, with 500-strong flocks in some winters.

COMMENTS
Heard calling at night. Often flocks loosely with Lapwings.
