STATUS
Sedentary.

ABUNDANCE
Common.

HABITAT
Breeds almost exclusively on human constructions both in towns and open country (bridges, farmsteads, reservoir dams, hermitages, etc) but there are some cliff-nesting colonies (Peña de Arias Montano, Cerro del Hierro, Sierra de Hornachuelos, Los Órganos de Despeñaperros, etc).

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Seen all year.

DISTRIBUTION
Distributed throughout the whole territory.

THREATS
There are unlikely now to be any colonies of pure Rock Doves left in Sierra Morena, reflecting the dire situation of this species in Spain due to the genetic contamination of Columba livia after centuries of cross-breeding with feral pigeons.
