STATUS
Summer visitor and migrant.

ABUNDANCE
Common.

HABITAT
Takes to a wide variety of woodland. Found in dense woods (Cork-Oak woods and Portuguese-Oak woods, Sweet-Chestnut woods, pinewoods, Pyrenean-Oak woods, etc), patches of Mediterranean scrub, dehesas, riverside thickets and copses, campiña with hedges, etc.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Arrives in March. Adults leave early, in high summer, while the young linger on until September.

DISTRIBUTION
Well distributed throughout Sierra Morena.

COMMENTS
Much easier to see than hear because it is quite a flighty bird.
