STATUS
Summer visitor and migrant.

ABUNDANCE
Scarce as breeder, uncommon as migrant.

HABITAT
All known colonies are rock nesters, sometimes on high cliff faces. Flocks in flight seen on passage.

SEASONAL BEHAVIOUR
Bookend dates for Spain as a whole run from February to early November but in Sierra Morena Alpine Swift colonies are active from mid March to early October.

DISTRIBUTION
Absent as breeder in Huelva and extremely scarce in Seville (only 1-3 pairs in Cerro del Hierro). In C贸rdoba there are colonies on limestone cliffs and crags in Guadiato valley. More frequent in Ja茅n, with several colonies scattered over the main ridges of the north, the biggest at Los 脫rganos.
