Buervas Valley is nowadays flooded by the Aracena reservoir. This trail gives us a good overview of the whole reservoir from various access and lookout points. Ospreys are always on the cards and we can also enjoy watching the Grey-Heron and Cormorant breeding colonies. Black Kite, Short-Toed Eagle, Orphean Warbler, Redstart, Iberian Chiffchaff or the escaped cage-bird coloniser Common Waxbill all breed in the area. Birds that might drop in on passage include Purple Heron, Avocet and Spoonbill, while Iberian Painted Frog, Natterjack Toad and Otter might also be spotted with a bit of luck. More information in the book Birding and Nature Trails in Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche.
