This gentle stroll takes us along one of Sierra Morena’s most important rivers, the River Grande, following it up- and down-stream through riparian copses of Alder, Ash, Tamujo, Oleander, Holm Oak and Mediterranean scrub. Short-Toed Eagle, Red-Rumped Swallow, Cirl Bunting, Rock Bunting, Orphean Warbler, Subalpine Warbler, Kingfisher, Chough and Golden Eagle live alongside eyecatching dragonflies like Western Clubtail and Copper Demoiselle. Even if we don’t actually spot them, Otter, Wild Boar and Red Deer often leave their tracks on the river bank. More information on this trail in the book Birding and Nature Trails in Sierra Morena de Jaén.
