The Cala Castle is an excellent vantage point affording sweeping views over the  upper reaches of the River Cala. The whole panorama is cloaked with some sort of woodland, mainly dehesas of mighty Cork Oaks. With patience we might well spot a soaring Black Stork, Red or Black Kite, Booted Eagle, Sparrow Hawk, Griffon Vulture, Buzzard, Short-Toed Eagle or Kestrel. Fluttering over the grassland around the castle are butterflies like Swallowtail, Lang’s Short-Tailed Blue and Green-Striped White.
